Duties:
- Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by preparing and organizing the operating room
- Set up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies needed for surgical procedures
- Ensure all necessary equipment is functioning properly and in good condition
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide necessary assistance during procedures
- Maintain a sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure
- Monitor and document patient vital signs during surgery
- Assist with patient positioning and draping
- Handle specimens for laboratory analysis as directed by the surgeon
- Clean and restock the operating room after each procedure
Requirements:
- Certification as a Surgical Technologist or completion of a Surgical Technologist program
- Knowledge of infection control protocols and practices
- Experience working in a hospital or ambulatory surgery center setting preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems (e.
g.
, Epic)
- Ability to analyze situations and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Basic life support (BLS) certification
