Behavior Consultant – Strategic Partnerships for Student Success Classification: Licensed 190-day Calendar Reports to: Director of Strategic Partnerships for Student Success FSLA Status: Exempt POSITION OVERVIEW Impactful, meaningful and rewarding work is what this role provides every day.
When students experience social, emotional and behavioral challenges they struggle, and sometimes suffer, in all aspects of their lives.
This crucial role offers support to students and families within their educational environment in hopes of securing a stable footing to support them both inside and outside the school building.
The consultant offers our districts assistance to build systems providing a full continuum of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports to support a safe, welcoming learning environment.
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Valid Oregon Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) as a School Counselor, School Psychologist, Special Education endorsement or in a comparable and applicable field.
2.
Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, behavioral science, special education or equivalent and corresponding professional licensure; Master’s Degree preferred.
3.
Direct experience with students who have social, emotional or behavioral challenges and their families.
4.
Skills for providing consultation to schools, families and community agencies regarding the needs of these students.
5.
Successful experience with the practice and application of individual, family and group therapy techniques 6.
Experience understanding and navigating community level systems for serving children and families 7.

GENERAL INFORMATION This position has the following expectations and requisite abilities.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.

Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.

Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district staff as directed.
10.
Ability to lift, carry at least 25 pounds.

Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS This is not necessarily an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, and duties associated with this position.

1.
Provide itinerant student support services to local school districts regarding positive youth development and management of students with moderate to severe social, emotional, behavioral challenges, as assigned.
Implement programs and services which reflect current research and best practice.
2.
Provide student focused services, including taking the lead on the development of FBA's and BSP's as well as support for plan implementation.
3.
Consult with teams regarding data collection and plan fidelity, to support progress monitoring for students with moderate to severe behavior related issues.
May include: teacher strategies, home strategies, school strategies, and supporting teachers in the development of IEP goals 4.
As requested, provide direct individual or group service for identified students.
Provide staff consultation, classroom presentations and participation on building level teams, district level teams, IEP teams, and 504 teams.
5.
Assist school teams or may be required to take the lead in the preparation of records, reports, recommendations, correspondence and facilitating meetings as necessary and/or directed.
Collect and record data related to services provided and outcomes achieved.
6.
Provide leadership, training, technical assistance, and coaching to district and school staff in relation to providing best practice approaches to serving students at risk of school failure and integrate services around crisis response, behavioral safety assessment, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), classroom behavior management, etc.
7.
Provide training, support or leadership in the development of safety plans for students engaging in threatening behavior patterns, and students displaying problematic sexual behavior in the school setting, i.

, Student Threat Assessment (STAT), Sexual Incident Response (SIRC).
8.
Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with community-based organizations, tribes and municipal governments.
Act as liaison between the LBL, constituent districts, and social service agencies as appropriate.

Create cooperative and harmonious relationships with districts, co-workers and supervisors.
