*Genstler Eye Center* is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic individual to fill a _*full-time Ophthalmic Assistant*_ position!
If you are currently an Ophthalmic Assistant or have ophthalmology/optometry experience we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities include taking and recording of patient medical and ophthalmic histories, escorting patients to and from exam or procedure rooms, preparing patients for examination, performing diagnostic testing such as taking ocular measurements, visual acuity & visual fields, etc.
, assisting with minor procedures, and other clinic based duties.
Important personal qualities include attention to detail, initiative & personal drive, organizational skills and the ability to function independently and within a team atmosphere.
*Essential Duties*:
* Obtain accurate medical & ophthalmic histories.
* Conduct testing & screening in an accurate and efficient manner.
* Accurately document all patient information in EHR in accordance with clinic guidelines.
* Maintain strictest patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
* Assist in patient education regarding prescribed treatments and procedures.
* Handle patient questions during visits and via phone.
* Facilitate problem solving in consultation with the physician.
* Facilitate prescription refills in consultation with the physician.
* Maintain exam room cleanliness, order and inventory.
* Understand all equipment and instruments used in the clinic setting.
* Assist in other areas as needed
*Recommended Education *(Or, the ability to gain one of the following within 6 months of hire):
* COT/A - Certified Ophthalmic Technician/Assistant
* OSC - Ophthalmic Scribe Certification
* CMA - Certified Medical Assistant
* Any other related medical certifications or training
*Experience*: Minimum of one year ophthalmology experience preferred.
* keyboarding ability of 45 wpm
* EHR experience preferred
* HIPAA compliance familiarity
*Hours*: Full-time, Monday-Friday, no weekends.
Business hours may vary slightly depending on patient census.
