00 FTE), 9-month, fixed-term Assistant Professor of Teaching position.
Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.
This Assistant Professor of Teaching will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Communication, oversee the COMM 114 course, advise and mentor graduate students, engage with their disciplinary program (e.
g.
, Speech Communication), with primary responsibility in the scholarly/research work, and provide service to the Discipline, School, College and University in the form of committee work and participation in faculty meetings.

Key Responsibilities 75% – Teaching and Advising Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Communication, both on campus and online, as assigned.
Oversee the COMM 114 large lecture course.
Develop course materials and contribute to curriculum design, as assigned.
Serve as Member or Chair of graduate student committees.
Provide guidance and mentorship for graduate teaching assistants for the COMM 114 course, preparing and completing their performance reviews and evaluations.
15% – Research Develop and maintain a research program in their area of expertise.
Disseminate research results by publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at professional and/or scientific conferences or meetings.
Advance the University’s research agenda in the area of Speech Communication.
10% – Service: Provide service to the Discipline, School, College, and University in the form of committee work and participation in faculty meetings.
What You Will Need Doctoral degree in Communication.
Prior university teaching experience in teaching a broad range of undergraduate courses in Speech Communication.
A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion.
Demonstrated potential to engage in and develop scholarly work and ability to articulate a planned program of research.
What We Would Like You to Have Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate and/or graduate Speech Communication courses to students in the School of Communication, using both in-person and online modalities, commensurate with experience.
Interest in developing and teaching new undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Communication.
Experience mentoring graduate students Experience with curricular design and development Evidence of effective communication skills.
Evidence of scholarly work as demonstrated by any of the following: development of research applications, research funding, published manuscripts, presentations at meetings.
Evidence of potential for effective service to the university and profession.
