Key Responsibilities 40% Carpentry: Performs general carpentry work on Floors, stairs, partitions, doors, windows, screens, roofs and a variety of wood fixtures; repairs tables, desks, chairs, benches, and other furniture.
Frame, clad framing as required with sheetrock, paneling and ceiling tile, build forms, etc.
Install underlayment and sheeting.
Installs smart boards/AV equipment and coordinates work with other journey level positions to complete projects.
Constructs furniture and cabinets using stationary power tools in a woodworking shop.
tools used may include, but are not limited to, power saws, joiners, planers, sanding and routing machines.
40% Repair/Replace/Inspect: Repairs, replaces, and inspects Doors, windows, glass, roofs, window cords, locks, closers, acoustic tile and floor tile.
Install weather stripping.
Cleans, sharpens, and repairs tools.
Order supplies and maintains inventory of materials.
May be required, on occasion, to perform other construction related activities such as installing plumbing, electrical work, painting, plastic laminate, floor and ceiling tile, and/or finishing concrete.
10% Mill work: Field measure, size, fabricate and install items such as constructs, room additions, office space, work areas, cabinets and counters.
Builds foundation forms and frames structures.
Finish work such as installing windows and doors, trimming, and installing locks and hardware.
Order supplies and maintains inventory of materials.
5% Estimating: Labor and material requirements for carpentry work.
Provide designs and construction documents for small projects, including as built drawings for Design & Construction to add to the record of drawings that are maintained.
During the course of subcontracted or maintenance contract work, reviews the project on a regular basis to keep it on schedule and ensure that the established budget is being followed, and recommends/implements any necessary remedial action items.
5% Other Duties as Assigned Works within safety rules of OSU and Facilities Services.
Actively participates in the accident prevention program including attending safety meetings, first aid and safety training programs.
Safely operate a University vehicle in performing duties.
Actively participates in quality review processes is an integral part of all Facilities Services positions.
This includes interviewing selected customers as needed.
