Employment Category Regular Job Summary This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Administrative Program Assistant position for INTO OSU at Oregon State University (OSU).
This position is responsible for evaluating a prospective international student’s ability to be successful and make certain that students are able to meet OSU admissions standards while making the final admit/deny decision regarding OSU pathway programs and degree programs.
It is expected that the person in this position consults reference materials that include, but are not limited to, state and federal guidelines, the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, and various university publications.
This position is responsible for assuring that OSU international admissions standards are maintained and that admissions processes run smoothly, while discussing areas of critical concern with the OSU International Admissions Assistant Managers, Manager or Director.
The person in this position is expected to liaise with a high level of professionalism and service with prospective students, OSU staff, INTO OSU staff, INTO University Partnership staff and INTO affiliated agents throughout the world to communicate OSU international admissions policies and procedures, as necessary.

Key Responsibilities 70% Evaluate International Credentials Evaluate foreign credentials for admission eligibility of prospective international students and work closely with colleagues to determine credential equivalencies.
* Review status of former/current institution(s) and degree(s) for accreditation in the country of origin using approved resources to determine whether OSU requirements are met.
Prepare contested files for additional reviews.
Remain up-to-date on evaluation standards, educational practices and the latest information on academic policy regarding both national and international admissions standards.
Determine whether applicants meet minimum language requirements.
The above duties are to be completed while working within tight time frames and with high performance expectations regarding both the level of service provided to students and other stakeholders, as well as an acute attention to detail.
10% Inform Applicants, Students and Faculty of OSU International Admissions Policies Explain detailed policies and procedures to persons who need information about a specific program or policy.
The level of detail requested requires extensive knowledge of OSU policies and procedures.
Screen problems and resolve issues or recommend alternative courses of action.
When needed, refer exceptions to the International Admissions Coordinators, Managers or Director.
Process requests and communicate decisions to applicants.
Represent the OSU International Admissions office on campus and be prepared to discuss admissions criteria for all relevant OSU and INTO OSU academic programs.
10% Support International Student-Facing Operations Provide support for other departmental colleagues in student-facing and communication-related operations.
Assist admissions representatives in their day-to-day correspondence with applicants and other stakeholders.
Provide support for other INTO OSU operational units during registration and orientation events, as needed.
10% General Office Duties Assist with reception duties as needed during vacations, etc.
Scan/match documents.
Electronically load test scores.
Other duties as assigned.
What We Require Three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level and experience generating documents; and Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.
What You Will Need Experience working in a busy administrative department.
Experience communicating and enforcing policies in a working environment.
Experience with electronic databases.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Proficient in Excel This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq.
Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
What We Would Like You to Have Experience with evaluating admissions credentials or auditing applications, programs of study or documents of a similar nature is very strongly preferred.
Prior university work experience, including experience with Banner and Salesforce applications.
Experience exercising sound independent judgment, while implementing problem solving and critical-thinking skills.
Experience applying policy standards after extensive research while dealing with situations that may include significant ambiguity.
Experience working with international populations.
