Job Summary The College of Engineering School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, invites applications for multiple, varied FTE, 12-month, fixed-term, Instructor/ Senior Instructor positions.
Reappointment is at the discretion of the School Head.
Electrical and Computer Engineering Instructor positions at Oregon State University are a dynamic and impactful opportunity to influence and support the engineers of the future.
This position, in the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), helps students adapt their technical understanding to world-ready skills by course instruction, developing course materials, mentoring, and crafting overall program goals.
This position is a 12-month appointment and work is performed primarily in person at the Corvallis, OR campus.
However, various teaching modalities including remote instruction may be needed.
Primary course instruction is on campus classes with class sizes of between 50 and 150+ students.
For this position we are seeking candidates who are able to instruct in two or more of the following topics: Computer Organization, Semiconductors and Device Physics, Power and Energy Systems, Electromagnetics, Computer Architecture, Computer Networking, VLSI/HDL Design, Embedded Design, Lab Tools /Equipment, and Digital Design.

Key Responsibilities 90% Teaching Prepare and teach course materials in one or more areas of ECE including, but not limited to, the following: Computer Organization, Semiconductors and Device Physics, Power and Energy Systems, Electromagnetics, Computer Architecture, Computer Networking, VLSI/HDL Design, Embedded Design, Lab Tools /Equipment, and Digital Design.
Responsibilities include equipping students with skills required for successful careers, assessing student performance, supervision of teaching assistants, and assessment for accreditation.
May assist in curriculum design and development.
Responsibilities also include creating an inclusive classroom (e.
g.
, mentoring and supporting students from diverse backgrounds, and fostering affirming classroom interactions across different and challenging structural/cultural barriers that limit movement towards social equity in engineering education and practice).
Teaching modalities can vary including team co-teaching, remote instruction, in-person instruction, large classrooms/class size, and small group mentoring.
10% Service Service includes participation in and leadership of School, College, and University committees, attending meetings, and contributing to outreach activities.
Participation in service to the profession should be pursued as appropriate.
What You Will Need Minimum/Required Qualifications for all ranks (Instructor/Senior Instructor I): Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related field Demonstrated ability to effectively instruct in two or more areas of need in the ECE program including but not limited to: Computer Organization, Semiconductors and Device Physics, Power and Energy Systems, Electromagnetics, Computer Architecture, Computer Networking, VLSI/HDL Design, Embedded Design, Lab Tools /Equipment, and Digital Design.
Effective written and verbal English skills.
Demonstrated efforts to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion through ongoing action in teaching, scholarship, and/or professional services.
Experience teaching, mentoring, and facilitating learners, inside or outside of a classroom setting in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related field Additional Minimum/Required Qualifications at the rank of Senior Instructor I: Four years of full time (or equivalent) professional experience teaching at the college- or university-level in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or other related field Sustained record of exceptional teaching at the college- or university- level as evidenced by student/peer evaluations of teaching.
