The Program Coordinator position supports the Food Safety and Environmental Stewardship Program (FSES) within the department of Environmental and Molecular Toxicology.
This position provides critical support for the research, instructional and service missions of the university and department, especially for large, complex, extramurally funded multi-year and multi-investigator Center grants.
The primary purposes of this position are to support the grant/contract proposal efforts for the laboratory as well as develop and implement research data services and contribute computer programs to manage a central data repository.
The position will also assist in creating a data infrastructure to support research.
This position will also help coordinate the FSES/PI budget by monitoring expenses and income, and reports on and plans annual budgets in consultation with the FSES Director.
This position will integrate large datasets, enhance data accessibility and interoperability across complex advanced databases.
They will assist and develop data sharing guidance/policy and help develop/implement strategic goals for information management.
This position determines which projects can be done based on available resources.
Review of these decisions is ultimately the responsibility of the Director.
Environmental and Molecular Toxicology is a department within the College of Agricultural Sciences (CAS).
The department’s primary function is research, with extension activities and student instruction.
EMT has 15 professorial faculty and a support staff of over 50 academic and classified employees.
EMT’s mission is to undertake basic and applied research in the biological and chemical sciences, particularly as they relate to problems of agricultural importance.
Activities of the department are supported by funds from the Agricultural Experiment Station (AES), grants, contracts, the Extension Service, and the instructional budget of the CAS.
Department members are engaged in research on the analysis of pesticide and other chemical residues; biochemical toxicology and drug metabolism; lipid, nutritional, membrane and trace element biochemistry; pesticide and xenobiotic chemistry.

Key Responsibilities 45% Proposal/Grant Coordination Provide daily coordination of the FSES (Food Safety and Environmental Stewardship) projects involving a collaborative team of scientific researchers.
Respond to Request for Fee-for-Service, Proposals (RFPs), review of agency guidelines, provide assistance with compliance issues, oversee and assist with grants/contracts proposal preparation, proposal submission, post-award management, agency reporting, and the required deliverables.
Liaise with FSES Clients, OSU institutional staff in various administrative and financial offices for grant/contract rules and guidelines and convey requirements to project principal investigators (PIs) and staff as is necessary.
Develop alternative approaches to achieve the needs of FSES Program within EMT Department, and OSU administration.
Work with FSES program Director to ensure that funds are expended on schedule and for the purposes intended and authorized by the funding agencies.
Reconcile grant reports with OSU business centers to provide budget data and variance reports to PI/FSES Director.
Track activities of FSES program.
20% Administrative Support Coordinate with Financial Strategic Services Coordinate/update investigator lab and grant web page content for the research focus area including web pages for individual research projects.
Web page support for FSES program and integration into departmental, graduate program and program/investigator level.
Assist with graduate program trainees and development of alumni relations with FSES laboratory program.
15% LIMS/Data Integration Support Work with the FSES LIMS (Laboratory Information Management system) software, for data integration and client services.
Develop and implement research data services and contribute computer programs to manage a central data repository Assist in creating a data infrastructure.
Coordinate management of research data and provide training where applicable Integrate large datasets, enhance data accessibility and interoperability across complex advanced databases.

Assist and plan with research related travel for FSES Director and trainees.
10% Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
What You Will Need Bachelor’s degree in science, computer science, business, or related field Prior experience integrating large datasets and working with LIMS software Experience working in a STEM or adjacent field Experience in grants/contracts coordination Experience with the grant proposal submission process and the reporting for NSF, NIH, EPA, or other federal or private granting or contracting.
