Oversees daily operations of the Department of Crop and Soil Science, including the facilitation of ongoing regional and multistate cooperative opportunities and issues.
Develops and secures staff and support for high quality teaching, research and Extension programs statewide.
Where appropriate, works with station directors and Extension regional directors to implement, staff, and support key programs and maintain adequate resources to ensure success.

Carries out annual learning outcome assessments and other periodic reporting requirements.
Manages departmental budget, making sound investments that advance departmental programs in alignment with the departmental and OSU strategic plans and the college’s strategic advantages, while exhibiting sound stewardship and fiscal responsibility.

What You Will Need Ph.
D.
degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related discipline.
National/international record of scholarly achievement in research, Extension, instructional and/or service activities within the crop or soil sciences or related disciplines, commensurate with the rank of Professor with tenure.
Commitment to the missions of undergraduate and graduate teaching, applied and basic research, and outreach to urban and rural communities across Oregon.
Outstanding professional and collaborative leadership including demonstrated success as an interdisciplinary team player who actively seeks collaboration, promotes success of the teams and people with whom they collaborate, and puts the success of their collaborative groups above their own self-interest.
Record of securing programmatic support for instruction, research, service, and/or outreach.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

What You Will Need Ph.
D.
degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related discipline.
National/international record of scholarly achievement in research, Extension, instructional and/or service activities within the crop or soil sciences or related disciplines, commensurate with the rank of Professor with tenure.
Commitment to the missions of undergraduate and graduate teaching, applied and basic research, and outreach to urban and rural communities across Oregon.
Outstanding professional and collaborative leadership including demonstrated success as an interdisciplinary team player who actively seeks collaboration, promotes success of the teams and people with whom they collaborate, and puts the success of their collaborative groups above their own self-interest.
Record of securing programmatic support for instruction, research, service, and/or outreach.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated capacity to collaborate, manage and resolve conflicts with a wide range of faculty, staff, students, and stakeholders in public agencies and private organizations, growers, volunteers, and the public.
Demonstrable commitment to diversity equity and inclusion, including development and implementation of actionable goals and strategies to improve opportunities and outcomes for underrepresented students, faculty, staff, and stakeholders.
Ability to travel frequently within Oregon.
This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OAR 576-055-0000 et seq.

Familiarity with relevant county, state and federal research agencies and programs including other funding sources such as foundations and other non-governmental sources.
