The Associate Head Football Strength and Conditioning Coach assists in the organization, administration, and promotion of all aspects of the Oregon State Strength and Conditioning (Athlete Development) Program.
This position specifically designs, maintains, supervises, and evaluates the Strength and Conditioning Program for Football and each specialized position the sports afford.
Coaching includes instruction and athletic supervision of the athletes, program management for the specific area assigned and preparation of recommendations to the Head Coach/Director and Director of Athletics.
The Associate Coach will adhere to the policies set forth by direct supervisors, Head Coach/Director, and Athletic Director, as well as Oregon State University, the PAC-12 Conference and The National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Key Responsibilities 55% COACHING / INSTRUCTION Provides consultation and expert advice to Head Coach and team members regarding the progress of each student athlete relative to their specific position for assigned sport(s).
Prepares, plans, conducts, and evaluates practice sessions, as directed.
Teaches individuals and groups of players specific tasks and skills before, during and after practice, during season and off-season.
Teaches progressions and drills during daily practice time.
Is available to coaches and players before, during and after practices.
Leads discussions about specific metrics desired by each position coach for the student-athletes at their specific position.
20% TEAM ADMINISTRATION Plans long and short-term strength and conditioning objectives for the team under the leadership of the Head Coach.
Establishes strength and conditioning training requirements and regiments for members of the team.
Identifies which student-athletes need specific nutrition plans to complement the desired metric and works with the training table staff and OSU Athletics dietitian to develop a nutrition plan.
Works with strength and conditioning and medical staff to develop the safest and most effective method of training to complement the overall plan.
Measures how the developed plan is achieving the desired goal and makes adjustments as needed.
Communicates back to the position coach on progress.
Ensures that hydration is taking place during all workouts and practices with supplementation for the most at-risk student-athletes (ex.
Dehydration, cramping, etc.
) 15% SUPERVISION Provides leadership, supervision, and direction for assigned students.
Plans, assigns, and reviews work.
Establishes goals for each position and assesses performance through completion of evaluations.
Hires, trains, promotes employees.
Disciplines or effectively recommends discipline up to and including dismissal.
Addresses grievances, developing a framework for corrective actions as necessary.
Mentors staff and develops plans that improve skill set and competency.
5% RECRUITMENT Prepares and distributes recruiting information.
Participates in campus visits with prospective student-athletes and their parents.
May work with populations that have a functional age of under 18.
5% CAMPUS & COMMUNITY COMMUNICATION Interacts with various campus offices, departments, as well as individual faculty and staff members.
Serves as guest speaker at public events on behalf of OSU Athletics.
What You Will Need Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field.
Twelve (12) years of full-time Division I Football Strength & Conditioning experience.
Ten (10) years of full-time Power 5 Strength & Conditioning experience with Football.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (C.
S.
C.
S) OR CSCCa certification.
CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
The employee in this position will often be required to lift/carry/push/pull objects weighing 200 pounds.
