Employment Category Intermittent Job Summary This recruitment will be used to fill multiple part-time, 9 month, intermittent (approximately 4 hours per week as needed) Early Childhood Assistant positions for the Family Resource Center at Oregon State University (OSU).
The Early Care and Education Assistant supports the Program Coordinator at the International Moms Group (IMG), a program within the Family Resource Center on the Oregon State University Corvallis campus.
This position provides in-person education and care to the children of IMG participants, who are required to stay on-site during weekly meetings and other scheduled events at the Orchard Court Community Center.
ECE Assistants will be available during the IMG weekly meetings (Wednesdays during each academic term, 9am to 12pm) and for occasional evening and weekend events.
The ECE Assistant will provide age-appropriate care and educational engagement in a playroom setting, with an emphasis on delivering play, movement, discovery, and socialization-based activities.
Key to this role is a demonstrated commitment to building a learning environment that supports diversity, equity, inclusion, and cross-cultural understanding.
ECE Assistant duties are defined by the International Moms Group Coordinator (details below).
This position requires knowledge of child development, child and youth safety, age-appropriate educational activities, cross-cultural competence, excellent communication skills, and tremendous patience to provide a safe, emotionally secure, and nurturing environment for the healthy development of young children.
The ECE Assistant will support other program staff to provide a high-quality early care and education program of direct service to young children and their families.
This position is informed by the fields of Early Childhood Education, Child Development and Human Development and maintains a working knowledge about the trends and best practices in the field of early care and education.

Key Responsibilities 95% Classroom Assistance: Assist in the implementation of a developmentally appropriate, play-based, culturally responsive, and equity-oriented educational program with an emergent curriculum for an assigned program and age range of children.
Prepare and maintain a safe, attractive, neat, and functional environment, both indoors and outdoors, and utilize the environment as a teaching tool.
Communicate and build relationships with participant parents to provide high-quality early care and education Assist children with health and hygiene (i.

handwashing) Monitor participant safety and adhere to Mandatory Reporting responsibilities Form a positive, supportive team atmosphere with other program members and participants.
5% Other Duties As Assigned What We Require A minimum of twenty semester hours (thirty quarter hours) of college courses in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Special Education; OR a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; OR one year of full-time experience in a certified day care center or comparable child care program.
