Printing and Mailing Services, a division of University Relations and Marketing, provides professional services and creative guidance for the multi-faceted communication pieces that it produces for departments across the university as well as associated external clients.
This department also manages both campus and off-campus mail and serves as the OSU shipping center.
The Purpose of this position is to operate various pieces of equipment which provides electronic printing and duplicating services for our customers within short timelines.
This involves the file transfer and Management, processing and production of high quality black and white, highlight color and full color copies on network digital printing and copying equipment.
This enables the unit to provide our customers with consistent quality and service in meeting their needs, thus facilitating the work of other units at Oregon State University in meeting the mission and goals of the institution.

Key Responsibilities 85% Print Production Main responsibility is the production of variable length run digital printing and copying jobs; including full color, highlight color and black & white printing.
Strong emphasis on file management and file transfer in a networked environment using UNIX,and Windows operating systems.
Understand and operate RIP’s ie: Creo, Freeflow, Fiery, Onyx.
Production equipment currently in use includes the following: Konica Minolta KM1 production inkjet Ricoh Pro 7210 Ricoh Pro 7110 Ricoh Pro 5110 Ricoh 8120 Xante Impressia (Equipment is continually upgraded due to advances in technology and individual in this position is expected to continually advance skills to proficiently operate and provide maintenance on both current and any new technology offered to our customers.
) Continually monitors jobs and equipment to ensure overall job quality, making minor adjustments as necessary.
Tests and adjusts product quality throughout each production run.
Some examples of these tasks include, but are not limited to: Correct or enhance text and graphics by computer hand tool methods.
Merge variable data files with finished printing files.
Manipulate/enhance color balance for premium output.
Scans input documents, including multiple size documents upon request.
Uses document glass for copies of damaged documents and books.
Sets job requirements for standard and signature requests and enters information into system.
Enters instructions for standard and signature jobs such as job ID and destination, number of prints, number of tab dividers, if any, and pages to be scanned.
Selects job requirements such as paper size, reduction or enlargement, number of sides to be imaged, cropping, masking, etc.
Programs standard and signature job covers in various combinations.
Uses cut and paste features to merge documents and pages.
Selects and uses print options.
Manipulates saved job tickets by renaming, deleting and retrieving them.
Utilizes extended storage module to store jobs on the system for later use.
Assist with maintaining paper inventory and associated Avanti entry and maintenance.

The production environment is noisy and there is exposure to paper dust and some fumes.
Hearing protection and back belts for lifting are provided and their use is highly encouraged.
