has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary Staff Accountant for the City of Corvallis Finance Dept.
The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, capital asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation.
During the monthly close, responsible for many aspects of internal reporting.
Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies.
A highly involved position, working to process daily, monthly, and annual reports as well as reviewing reconciliations.
This temporary position would get your foot in the door where you can let your talents in accounting shine.
Your responsibilities:
Support implementation, maintenance, and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP.
Participate in the monthly end and year-end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation.
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed.
Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules.
Complete month-end close, journal entries, without supervision.
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses, debt and investments payroll.
Maintain capital asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation.
Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner.
Be a part of various department-wide initiatives.
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases.
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement.
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment.
ERP system experience.
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges.
Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Spreadsheet and database capabilities.
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines.
Recent and relevant accounting experience.
Deep understanding of account reconciliation.
Experience with Microsoft Excel.
General ledger experience desired.
Foundational knowledge in bank reconciliations.
